PLRisk is proud to congratulate Vice President of Sales @Matt Culkin on his promotion to the board of New Jersey's Young Industry Professionals (NJ YIP). Matt will be the treasurer for the upcoming term. Matt has been part of NJYIP for many years and has served on the board for the last few years. His induction was confirmed at the PIA conference in Atlantic City on June 8th. In his new role, he will be a member of the executive team and responsible for overseeing the organization's funds and treasury.
This new role only adds to a long list of community service. Matt most recently rolled off the Board of the Eastern Chapter of Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) board in December, where he served as an active member for many years. Additionally, he is actively involved with CUMAC, a local organization that supports the food-dependent community in Paterson, New Jersey.
Matt has been with the company for over 14 years, starting as an Associate Retail Broker, then a licensed Professional Liability Wholesale Broker. Currently, he is the Vice President of Sales for PLRisk, supervising the entire sales staff while holding the distinction of the number one producer. Matt has been at the forefront of PLRisk’s growth, having been part of the company since its formation in 2014. Over his career, he has attained multiple certifications and has established many strategic partnerships with our clients.

About Matt
Matt Culkin is the Vice President of Sales for PLRisk. He specializes in all Professional, Management, and Cyber Liability Insurance Placement for large private and public organizations, including Errors and Omissions (E&O), Cyber Liability, Directors and Officer’s (D&O) and Employment Practices Liability (EPL) across the country.
Upon graduating from Marywood University, Matt joined Axis Insurance Services, LLC. in 2012 as an Associate Retail Broker and in 2014 transitioned to a producing wholesale broker role at PLRisk, a sister company. Since making the change, Matt has developed into a national resource for his retail partners, bringing his product and industry knowledge to provide complex executive liability insurance solutions to their clients. In 2021, Matt was promoted to his current role as Vice President of Sales where he continues to help mentor other producers at PLRisk, provides market guidance for more difficult placements and assistance to others as well as the growing organization achieve their own respective sales goals.
Matt was nominated as a 2019 IBANY Emerging Leader and also recognized in 2022 as a 5-Star Professional Liability Broker by Insurance Business Magazine. He has served on the Board of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, chaired the company’s charity committee, and worked tirelessly with all of the company’s charity initiatives.
